Mr. Durst's Classroom
An Awesome 4th Grade Experience
Welcome to 4G
Dear Parents,
My name is Charles Durst and I am a fourth grade teacher at Lincoln Trail Elementary school. I graduated from the Elementary Education program at the University of Illinois. I met many of you at the open house our classroom had at the beginning of the semester. For those of you that I did not meet, here is a brief introduction. I am originally from Decatur, Illinois. For the majority of elementary school I attended a public school. My parents then thought it wise for me to attend a private school in Urbana, where I finished out middle school and high school. I was then accepted into the University of Illinois. I have been working with children and professional educators through the placements provided by the College of Education as well as through employment I have picked up along the way. I have been employed by Holy Cross as well as Kingswood School during my college career. At the former I helped run an after school program and at the latter I was responsible for teaching Science and Social Studies to multiple elementary grade levels. I student taught under the guidance of Mrs. Rachel Worthington at Lincoln Trail. All of my classes and instruction have been preparing me for this opportunity, and it is something that I do not take lightly. I hope this can be a learning experience for all involved. I am excited to be in Mrs. Worthington’s former classroom. I know that I have big shoes to fill and that I will learn much from working with the great group of 4G students I have this year.
Sincerely,
Charles S. Durst
